Introduction

Thornbury Running Club has existed since 12th December 1985, when the plans for a Club prepared by a group of six keen runners were approved at the Inaugural Meeting. Since then, the Club has steadily grown and currently has a total of between 80 and 90 members, putting it in the top 25% (by membership) of UK Athletics clubs. More important, it is a very active membership, with typically 30 - 40 present at Club Nights.
The Club offers the opportunity to run in the company of others, either for friendly competition or for social reasons. It also encourages participation in athletics events such as road races and cross-country. Above all, we like to believe that members enjoy their running.
Finally, there are no qualifying standards for membership, but most members are capable of running up to 5 miles and the range of ability is from 6-minute miles (or better) to 9-minute miles. If you cannot yet achieve this, try the new Beginners' Group on Thursdays.
